Euphorbia resinifera |

Origin: Morocco (Marrakech, Tusa).
Plant Description: Their stems are of green color, quadrangular, with spines in form of “V” more or less invested. With the age they form enormous groups that get to reach heights of 1.5 m and more. In habitat they form invading colonies that extend throughout the land.
Flowers: They are very small, yellow color, being born on the superior part of the stems.
Growth: Slow.
Culture: Ph 6. Full sun to obtain attractive flowerings. It resists the droughts well but it likes the generous irrigation at time of activity. It resists bad the cold and the frosts in the presence of humidity.
Phytosanitary Cares: It is a resistant plant that usually does not give many problems in culture. If it is exposed to frosts it will undergo wounded and burns that need to deal with fungicides to avoid the appearance of fungi.
Other Information: The "Euforbio", latex of Euphorbia resinifera, was used in paintings for the helmet of the boats, where its strong toxicity avoided the growth of seaweed and mosses, in addition to all that for which a powerful poison can be applied. |
