Turbinicarpus lophophoroides: |
Origin: Mexico (San Luis Potosi, Las Tablas). Synonyms: Toumeya lophophoroides Description: Dwarfed plant, of 8.5 cm high by 4.5 cm of diameter. Ribs in spiral with very pronounced areolas with fine spines. Protected species. It has a thickness and delicate root. With the age, the areolas become woollier and can get to completely transform the aspect of the plant.
Flowers: Of about 3 cm of diameter, white, with estigmas yellow/oranges. They are developed from the new very woolly areolas in the apex of the plant.
Growth: Very slow. Culture: Ph 6,5. Irrigation always controlled and substratum with very good drainage. Rigorous rest in dry during the winter. It supports well the cold. Total sun and without fertilizer. It does not support the flooding. Phytosanitary Cares: Preventive treatments with fungicide since the plant is prone to basal rot that affect their heavy root.
