Bienvenidos a Cactusland   /   Welcome to Cactusland

   Neobuxbaumia polylopha:

The flowers have the petals of pink color with the anthers and ovary of pale yellow color. About 6 cm of diameter, blooming profusely in zones next to the apex.

In my garden, the flowers of the Neobuxbaumia polylopha are very visited by the ants.

The flower exudes small sweetened crystallizations that are very appreciated by them.

I have been able to verify that with the pollination effect of the ants it is not necessary for the flower to get open to be pollinated. The ants penetrate inside a pair of days before the cocoon blooms.
