Synonyms: Cephalocereus polylophus (De Candolle) Britton & Rose
Origin: Mexico (Hidalgo, Valle de Zimapan, Meztitlan, Tlacocula) One of those cacti that when adult can attract the attention in any garden. A columnar cactus with a stem of intense green color that arrives until the 40 cm of diameter and that can reach the 14 ms of height, something as high as a building of 5 floors.
Solitary stem without ramifications although, sometimes, some wound can cause the emission of an arm. With the age it develops up to 50 ribs, areolas with spines of up to 7 cm in length, some 7-8 radial ones and one more or less central one, at the beginning being of golden yellow color when young and becoming of a cream color when older. |
